# Add missing phone numbers to a lead list, before and after

> Add missing phone numbers to a lead list in Pipecorn. Enrich the whole list, compare the same rows before and after, and read your phone coverage. Video inside.

Source: https://pipecorn.com/pipeschool/before-after

To add missing phone numbers to a lead list, import the file in Pipecorn under **Leads › Import leads › From CSV**, then open the list, click **Enrich leads**, pick **All in list**, tick **Work email** and **Mobile phone** and click **Enrich**. The empty Phone column fills in row by row, and the phone counter next to the total leads tells you how many mobiles you got.

This tutorial is about seeing the difference on the same file. You look at the list before enrichment, run it, then read the result. A work email costs 3 credits and a mobile 30, and a contact that comes back Not found costs nothing. To import and enrich in one pass instead, see [Enrich a lead list you already have](https://pipecorn.com/pipeschool/lead-list-enrichment).

## What you need

Phone enrichment is open to owners, admins and managers. A member can enrich phones only if the workspace allows members to.

* **A file of leads** as a CSV or Excel file, with first name, last name and company for each person. A LinkedIn URL is optional but recommended.
* **A Pipecorn account.** The free plan works and comes with 150 credits a month.
* **Credits for the mobiles.** At 30 credits a mobile, the free plan's 150 credits cover 5 mobiles, so test on a slice of the file first.
* **Room in your monthly leads.** Each import counts toward your plan's leads: 500 on Free, 5,000 on Build and 25,000 on Grow.

## Add missing phone numbers to a lead list, step by step

1. ### Look at what your file already has
Your file knows who your leads are. What it usually lacks is a way to reach them, with a phone column that's empty or half filled by another tool. Keep that in mind, because the mapping in the next step has no phone field. The numbers already in your file aren't imported, so every mobile you see afterwards is one Pipecorn found.

The file before Pipecorn, with a half-empty phone column
2. ### Import the file as a CSV and leave the boxes unticked
In **Leads**, click **Import leads**, then **From CSV**, and drop your file. On **CSV fields mapping**, Pipecorn matches your headers to **Company Name**, **Lead Firstname**, **Lead Lastname** and **Lead Profile Linkedin Url** for you. Check the example data next to each field.
Leave **Find contact info for the whole list** unticked and click **Import leads**. Importing without contact info costs no credits, and it gives you the list as it is before enrichment.

Your columns, mapped for you
3. ### Read the list before enrichment
The list opens in **Leads**, named after your file. The **Work email** and **Phone** columns are empty, and each cell shows an **Enrich email** or **Enrich phone** button. The email and phone counters at the top both read 0.
![The imported list q4-prospects in Pipecorn Leads with the Work email and Phone columns highlighted, every cell showing Enrich email or Enrich phone](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_19,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/before-after.jpg)
Before, with nothing in Work email or Phone
4. ### Click Enrich leads and pick All in list
Click **Enrich leads** at the top of the list. It shows how many people are in the list. Pick **All in list** among **All in page**, **All in list**, **Only qualified** and **Custom**, then click **Continue**.
![The Enrich leads menu open on the q4-prospects list with All in list selected and the Continue button](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_23.2,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/before-after.jpg)
Enrich leads › All in list
5. ### Tick Work email and Mobile phone
The panel reads **Everyone in this list**. Tick **Work email**, then **Mobile phone**. Under each one, a line says how many people don't have one yet and the most it can cost. The button then reads **Enrich · up to N credits**, and the line below it says **Credits are only charged for the contacts we find.**
Leave **Personal email** as it is. It's a separate option at 9 credits that has to be turned on in settings first.

The ceiling shows before you click
6. ### Click Enrich and watch the same rows fill in
Click **Enrich**. Each cell shows **Enriching…** and then turns into an email, a mobile or **Not found**. A badge next to the counters follows the phones, from **Enriching phones** to **Phone enrichment finished**.
![The q4-prospects list during enrichment, with work emails filled in, some phone cells still Enriching and others showing numbers or Not found](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_34.2,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/before-after.jpg)
The same rows, filling in
7. ### Read your phone coverage from the counters
When the badge says **Phone enrichment finished**, look at the top of the list. The phone counter shows how many mobiles were found, and the people counter next to it shows the total leads. Pipecorn shows the two counts, not a percentage, so divide one by the other to get your phone coverage for this file.

Mobiles found, next to the total leads
8. ### Download the list or push it to your CRM
Open the **⋮** menu at the top right of the list. **Download** exports the enriched list. **Push leads to** sends the leads to a CRM or sequencer, among them HubSpot, lemlist, Instantly and Smartlead.
![The list's More actions menu open with Push leads to expanded, listing Sales Navigator, Lemlist, Instantly, Smartlead and Hubspot](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_43.2,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/before-after.jpg)

## What filling the phone column costs

Importing the file is free in credits and counts toward your monthly leads. Enrichment is charged per contact found: 3 credits for a work email and 30 for a mobile. A row that comes back **Not found** costs nothing, so the figure on the **Enrich** button is a ceiling and the real cost depends on how many contacts Pipecorn finds.

Paid plans add credits every month and roll unused ones over. See [Pricing](https://pipecorn.com/pricing) for the plans and the price per mobile on each one.

## Read the result the right way

* **The ☎ hover isn't your coverage.** Hovering the phone counter opens **Providers**, where each provider's share is a share of the phones found, not a find rate. Your coverage is the phone count divided by the total leads.
* **Tick Mobile phone alone if you only need phones.** The ceiling on the button drops to 30 credits a person.
* **Compare tools on the same file.** Run the rows another tool left blank and compare the phone count. Pipecorn asks one provider after another until one has the contact. [Run the waterfall and check what's deliverable](https://pipecorn.com/pipeschool/waterfall) shows the providers behind each result.
* **Pushing to a CRM needs Grow.** HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive sync come with Grow and Scale.
* **Compare phone tools before you commit.** [Best phone number enrichment tools for cold calling](https://pipecorn.com/blog/best-phone-number-enrichment-tools-for-cold-calling) compares them, and [how to verify phone numbers before you dial](https://pipecorn.com/blog/phone-number-verification-service) covers the checks.

## Questions

### Does Pipecorn keep the phone numbers already in my file?

No. The CSV fields mapping has no phone field, so the file's own numbers aren't imported. Every mobile in the enriched list is one Pipecorn found.

### How do I see what percentage of my leads got a mobile?

Divide the phone counter by the total leads counter at the top of the list. Pipecorn shows both counts but not the percentage.

### Can I enrich a list I imported earlier without contact info?

Yes. Open it in Leads, click **Enrich leads**, pick **All in list**, tick what you want and click **Enrich**. You don't need to import the file again.

### Do I pay for the leads where no mobile is found?

No. A mobile costs 30 credits and a work email 3, only when Pipecorn finds it. A cell that says Not found costs nothing.

### What's the difference with importing and enriching in one step?

Ticking Work email and Mobile phone under Find contact info for the whole list on the mapping screen starts the enrichment at import, as in [Enrich a lead list you already have](https://pipecorn.com/pipeschool/lead-list-enrichment). Importing first lets you see the list before and run the enrichment when you choose.

### Can I enrich only part of the list?

Yes. In **Enrich leads**, pick **All in page**, **Only qualified** or **Custom** instead of **All in list**.
