> Map your TAM in Pipecorn. Filter every company that fits, save them all, then find every buyer inside with a persona. No credits used. Steps and video.

Source: https://pipecorn.com/pipeschool/tam-mapping

To map your TAM in Pipecorn, open **Companies**, set your industries, countries and company size, add a customer under **Lookalikes**, and click **Add to list** to save every match. Then open the list, click **Find employees**, pick **All in list** and a persona, and save the people to a list.

You end up with two lists, your whole market as companies and the people you sell to inside them. Searching is free, saving companies counts toward your plan's company imports, and saving leads counts toward your monthly leads. None of it uses credits. The video above runs the whole thing in about a minute, and each step below has its screenshot.

## What you need to map your TAM

* **A Build plan or higher.** Lookalikes start on Build. The new-hire alert at the end starts on Grow. See [Pricing](https://pipecorn.com/pricing).
* **Company imports left on your plan.** Saving companies uses them. Build gives you 2,000 a month and Grow 10,000, and Scale has no limit.
* **Monthly leads left.** Saving people uses them. Build gives you 5,000 a month and Grow 25,000, and Scale has no limit.
* **Optional, a CSV of accounts** you found in other tools. Only the company name is required.

## Map your TAM step by step

1. ### Set your industries, countries and company size
In **Companies**, pick your industries under **Industry**, the countries you sell to under **Location**, then tick the ranges you want under **Company size**. Location filters on the company's headquarters. The count at the top of the results updates after each change, and counting is free.
![The Companies search in Pipecorn with two industries, United States and Canada under Location, and the 51-200 and 201-500 employee ranges ticked under Company size](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_11.9,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/tam-mapping.jpg)
Industry, Location and Company size, with the count on top
2. ### Add your best customer under Lookalikes
Under **Deep search**, open **Lookalikes** and type the name of a customer you'd like more of. Pipecorn reads how that company describes itself and writes the matching search into the **Keyword** field. Your other filters stay on top of it.
The search reads how companies describe themselves, so a few results sell something else. Scroll through the list before you save it.
![Deep search in Pipecorn Companies with a customer picked under Lookalikes and the Keyword field filled with the generated keyword search](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_16.5,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/tam-mapping.jpg)
One customer under Lookalikes fills the Keyword field
3. ### Save every match with Add to list
You can browse the first 10,000 results, and a note under the table says so. **Add to list** works on all of them. Click it, choose **Create new list**, name it, and click **Save**.
Saving companies costs no credits. It counts toward your plan's company imports. If your market is bigger than the imports you have left, Pipecorn tells you how many it can import and offers the first part of the list.
![The Add to list panel over the Companies results, with All 12,640 matches, a new list named TAM North America SaaS ticked and the Save button](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_22.3,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/tam-mapping.jpg)
Add to list saves all the matches, not only the page
4. ### Import the accounts you found in other tools
Accounts from your CRM, a spreadsheet or another tool can join the same map. In **Companies**, click **Import companies**, then **From CSV**, and drop your file.
On the **CSV fields mapping** screen, **Company Name** is the only mandatory field. Map **Company Linkedin ID** too if your file has it, because it gives the most precise match. Importing companies is free and doesn't use credits. Click **Start import**.
![The CSV fields mapping screen for a company import, with Company Name mapped as the mandatory field, Company Linkedin ID highlighted as the most precise match, and the line saying importing companies is free](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_33.8,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/tam-mapping.jpg)
Company Name is required, Company Linkedin ID is the most precise
5. ### Find the employees of every company at once
Open your list from **My Lists** and click **Find employees**. You can search the companies on the page, the whole list or a number you set. Pick **All in list**, then **Continue**, and Pipecorn searches every company in the list at once.

Find employees › All in list
6. ### Pick a persona, or let the AI build one
Choose a persona you already have, or click **New persona**. Name it, describe who you sell to in one line, and click **Generate job titles**. The AI writes every job title that means that role. Then click **Save persona** and select it.

**Leads** then opens with your company list as **Current company** and your persona applied.
![The Build a persona with AI window with the persona described as revenue leaders at B2B software companies, the generated job titles highlighted, and a preview of matching leads](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_47.5,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/tam-mapping.jpg)
Describe the role, and the AI writes the job titles
7. ### Save the leads to a list
Click **Add to list**, then create a list or pick one. The panel says what saving does. It keeps their LinkedIn profiles without enriching them, uses no credits, and counts toward your monthly leads. One save takes up to 20,000 leads.
When you want emails and mobiles, enrich the list. A work email costs 3 credits and a mobile 30, only when Pipecorn finds them.
![The Add to list panel over 8,940 leads, with the note that saving keeps LinkedIn profiles without enriching, uses no credits and counts toward monthly leads, and a new list being named](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_50.5,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/tam-mapping.jpg)
Saving leads uses no credits
8. ### Turn on New hire and create a weekly alert
Your map changes as people join these companies. Under **Signals**, turn on **New hire**, which keeps people who joined their company in the last 90 days. Click the bell, then **Create alert**. Set **Frequency** to **Weekly** and click **Create alert**.
Every week, Pipecorn sends you the people who just joined your accounts. You find the alert under **Alerts** in the sidebar.

New hires alert, every week

## What mapping your TAM costs

Mapping uses no credits. Filtering and counting companies are free. Saving them uses your plan's company imports, and importing a CSV of companies is free. Saving people uses your monthly leads.

Credits start when you reveal contact details. A work email costs 3 credits and a mobile 30, and a contact Pipecorn doesn't find costs nothing. The [lead database](https://pipecorn.com/lead-database) page explains how plan limits and credits differ.

## Tips for a cleaner TAM map

* **Keep hiring and technology filters out of the TAM search.** Companies found with them cost 3 credits each to save. Use them for a second, narrower list, as in [Find companies by the tools they use](https://pipecorn.com/pipeschool/tech-stack).
* **Split the market into territories.** Run the search once per country, size band or vertical, and save each result as its own list.
* **Check imports before a big save.** On Build, a whole market can go past the 2,000 company imports a month. The [Map your TAM](https://pipecorn.com/map-your-tam) page shows what one market looks like in numbers.
* **Read more about the two halves.** The [company database](https://pipecorn.com/company-database) lists every company filter, and [lookalike companies](https://pipecorn.com/lookalike-companies) explains how a lookalike search is built.
* **Next, get their contacts.** [Run the waterfall](https://pipecorn.com/pipeschool/waterfall) on the lead list to fill in emails and mobiles.

## Questions

### What does mapping your TAM mean?

Your TAM (total addressable market) is every company that could buy what you sell. Mapping it means turning that into lists you can count and work, the companies first, then the people inside them.

### Does it cost credits to map my TAM?

No. Filtering and counting are free. Saving companies uses your plan's company imports, and saving people uses your monthly leads. Credits are spent only when you reveal an email (3) or a mobile (30).

### Why can I only browse 10,000 companies?

The results table shows the first 10,000\. Add to list saves all the matches, so you can work with the whole market from the list.

### Can I add accounts from my CRM or a spreadsheet?

Yes. Click Import companies, then From CSV. Only the company name is required, and a Company Linkedin ID column gives the most precise match. Importing companies is free.

### How do I find the decision makers in every account?

Open your company list, click Find employees and pick All in list. Choose a persona, or describe the role and let the AI write the job titles, then save the leads to a list.

### Which plan do I need?

Build or higher, because Lookalikes start on Build. The weekly new-hire alert starts on Grow.

### Can I keep my TAM up to date?

Yes. Turn on New hire in your lead search and create a weekly alert to get the people who just joined your accounts. For new companies, re-run your saved search.
