To find companies that use a specific technology, open **Companies** in Pipecorn, go to **Technology** under **Signals**, type the tool and tick it. The results list the companies that use it, with a **Technologies** column that shows each match.

Searching is free. Saving a company to a list costs 3 credits, and a bell turns the search into a weekly alert that adds the new companies on that stack. The video above shows it with Salesforce in about a minute, and each step below has its screenshot.

## What you need

* **A Grow plan or higher.** Tech-stack signals start on Grow. See [Pricing](https://pipecorn.com/pricing).
* **Credits for the companies you save.** Each one costs 3 credits, and so does each company an alert adds.

## Find companies that use a specific technology, step by step

1. ### Open Technology and type the tool
In **Companies**, open **Technology** under **Signals**. Type the tool in **Search technologies...**, or pick it from **Popular technologies**, and click the tick to include it. Pick Salesforce, and the results show the companies that use Salesforce.
![Pipecorn Companies with the Technology signal open, Salesforce included as a filter, Popular technologies listed below, and results showing a Salesforce chip in the Technologies column](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_11.8,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/tech-stack.jpg)
Signals › Technology › Salesforce
2. ### Combine tools, or exclude one
Include a second tool to keep only the companies that use both. Every tool you tick narrows the list, so Salesforce and Slack returns the companies that have the two.
To leave out companies that use a tool, click the exclude icon next to it instead of the tick. It shows as a red chip in the filter. This is how you find Salesforce users that don't have a tool you compete with.
![The Technology filter with Salesforce and Slack included and Shopify excluded as a red chip, and fewer companies in the results](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_18.6,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/tech-stack.jpg)
Two tools included, one excluded
3. ### Hover the Technologies column to check the match
The **Technologies** column shows each matched tool with a small bar. Hover a tool to see how confident Pipecorn is that the company uses it, and how many job postings mentioned the tool, with the dates.
![The tooltip Salesforce's usage over the Technologies column, with the confidence of using Salesforce shown as High and the number of job postings that mentioned it between two dates](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_25,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/tech-stack.jpg)
Confidence and job postings, per company
4. ### Narrow it down with industry, location or size
Add **Industry**, **Location** or **Company size** on top of the technology. Technology runs on its own among the signals, so the other signals grey out while it's on, and picking **Hiring** clears it.
With Technology on, a city or a region filters by its whole country. Pick a country.

5. ### Save only the accounts you will work
Searching is free. Saving a company to a list costs 3 credits, so filter first. Tick the companies you want, click **Add to list** and name the list. The **Credits required** box tells you how many credits the save will use and what you'll have left, before you confirm with **Save list to your account**.

The cost shows before you save
6. ### Click the bell to get the new companies every week
Click the bell next to **Add to list**. The **Create alert** window opens on a **Tech stack alert**, which finds new companies matching this search that use these technologies. Set **Frequency** to **Weekly**. Each company the alert imports costs 3 credits.
![The Create alert window with Tech stack alert, the line saying each company import costs 3 credits, the alert name and Frequency set to Weekly](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_44,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/tech-stack.jpg)
Tech stack alert, every week
7. ### Pick a persona to get the people too
Under **Find people (optional)**, switch from **Companies only** to one of your personas. Each run then also builds a lead list of the people matching that persona at the new companies. Click **Create alert**.
![The Create alert window with Sales leaders picked under Find people, and the hint that each run also builds a lead list of the people matching this persona at the new companies](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_49.5,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/tech-stack.jpg)

8. ### Get the full stack of accounts you already track
Already track accounts in another tool? Ask for each company's full stack through the API, or in Claude with the Pipecorn MCP. Each lookup costs 3 credits.
For the MCP, open **API & MCP** in Pipecorn, stay on the **MCP** tab and copy the **Server URL**. In Claude, add it as a custom connector, sign in to Pipecorn, and ask for the stack of your accounts in one sentence.
![The API & MCP page in Pipecorn on the MCP tab, with the server URL https://mcp.pipecorn.com/mcp highlighted above the Claude Code, Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and VS Code cards](https://res.cloudinary.com/dqqyl36ed/video/upload/so_54.5,c_fill,ar_16:9,w_1280,f_auto,q_auto/pipecorn/university/tech-stack.jpg)

## What a tech stack search costs

The app, the API and the MCP share one credit balance. Emails and mobiles for the people you find cost 3 and 30 credits, only when Pipecorn finds them. See [Pricing](https://pipecorn.com/pricing) for the credits in each plan.

* **Searching by technology** is free, as many times as you like.
* **Saving a company to a list** costs 3 credits. The Credits required box shows the total before you confirm.
* **A tech stack alert** costs 3 credits for each new company it imports.
* **One company's full stack**, through the API or the MCP, costs 3 credits a lookup. The API also has a stack search preview that is free.

## Tips for searching by tech stack

* **Use exclude to find switch targets.** Include the tool your product works with and exclude the one you replace.
* **Read the confidence before you save.** You pay 3 credits per company, so check the matches you care about first.
* **The company panel isn't the full stack.** It lists the technologies your search matched. For everything a company uses, run a lookup through the [API](https://pipecorn.com/developers) or [Pipecorn inside Claude](https://pipecorn.com/pipeschool/claude-mcp).
* **Run the other signals as their own search.** Technology doesn't combine with hiring, funding or headcount growth, so look for those in a separate search. [Use signals to find buyers](https://pipecorn.com/pipeschool/using-signals) covers what each signal costs, and [buying signals](https://pipecorn.com/signals) lists what Pipecorn watches.
* **New to technographics?** [Technographic data explained](https://pipecorn.com/blog/technographic-data) covers what it is and how sales teams use it.

## Questions

### How do I find a list of companies using Salesforce?

Open Companies, go to Technology under Signals, type Salesforce and include it. Add industry, location or size to narrow the list, then save the companies you want at 3 credits each.

### Can I find companies that use two tools at once?

Yes. Include both, and the results keep only the companies that use both. To leave out companies that use a tool, click its exclude icon instead.

### How does Pipecorn know a company uses a tool?

Hover a tool in the Technologies column. It shows how confident the match is and how many job postings mentioned the tool, and their dates.

### Is searching by technology free?

Yes. You pay only when you save companies, at 3 credits each, or when an alert imports new ones, also at 3 credits each.

### Can I get alerted when new companies start using a tool?

Yes. Click the bell on your search to create a Tech stack alert, set it to Weekly, and Pipecorn adds the new matching companies at 3 credits each. Pick a persona and each run also builds a lead list.

### How do I see the full tech stack of one company?

Ask through the API, or in Claude with the Pipecorn MCP. Each lookup costs 3 credits. The company panel in the app lists only the technologies your search matched.

### Can I use Technology with hiring or headcount growth?

No. Technology runs on its own among the signals. Picking Hiring clears it, and the other signals grey out while it's on. Industry, location and size still work.
