We've rebranded: ProntoHQ is now Pipecorn.

Pipecorn vs Apollo

A side-by-side look at what each tool finds on the same list, what a team pays for it, and what comes with it.

The independent test

They did the benchmark for you

Quentin Kozyra, Head of Growth at Hyperline, ran six providers on the same contacts. A number counts only once a rep reached the right person.

01 Same process

  1. 290 contactsUS, UK and France, the same list sent to every provider
  2. EnrichingSix providers, Apollo and Pipecorn among them, each on its own with no waterfall
  3. SDR callsReps dial every number. It counts only once they reach the right person

02 Different results

In the US, Pipecorn found the right number for 82% of the contacts a rep confirmed. Apollo found it for 53%.

A month ago I turned phone enrichment into a contest at Hyperline. Thanks to this project, I can already say we will improve our connection rate by 20%.

The setup: 6 providers on the same list, no waterfall. […] 170 contacts, 169 enriched. Then we actually called.

Here are the 3 things I am taking away.

1. Decide what matters before you pick a provider. Volume of good numbers, or precision? You rarely get both. Pipecorn found the most good numbers. […] Two different bets. Pick yours first, then pick your tool.

2. There is no perfect provider, only a good stack. Pipecorn covered 76% of all the good numbers we found. To get the rest you do not need a better primary, you need the most complementary secondary. Coverage compounds when providers pull from different sources. No need to stack many tools, just the most complementary one.

3. The right stack changes by country. Some providers were excellent on the US and weak on the UK. A stack that wins in one market can quietly lose in another. Test per geography, not in aggregate.

What a team pays

Pay for data, not for seats

Apollo prices every seat, and a phone number costs 8 of its credits. Pipecorn prices the data, with unlimited seats. Set your team and your volume to see both bills.

Pipecorn$333a month27,000 credits, unlimited seats
Apollo$490a month10 Basic seats

Pipecorn costs 32% less for this team. Each rep reveals 75 verified mobiles a month, about 4 a working day. Both billed annually. Apollo bills every seat; Pipecorn's seats are free and its credits roll over.

In Hyperline's call test, Apollo found the right mobile for 62% of the contacts a rep confirmed across the US, the UK and France, and 52% of the numbers a rep could grade on the phone reached the right person. The US was its weakest market, at 53% coverage. Pipecorn found the right number for 83% of the same contacts, with 61% precision. One test is a pattern, not a verdict, so run your own list through both.

On European contacts the gap was widest in France, where Pipecorn found the right mobile for 93% of contacts and Apollo for 67%, at 72% precision against 52%. In the UK the two were closer. Pipecorn covered 71% of contacts and Apollo 65%, and Apollo's numbers were a little more precise, 55% against 48%. Both are SOC 2, GDPR and CCPA compliant.

Hyperline did, on its own contacts, to choose its own provider. Quentin Kozyra, Head of Growth, put six providers, Apollo and Pipecorn among them, on the same 290 contacts across the US, the UK and France, with no waterfall, and had the sales team call the numbers. Hyperline is a Pipecorn customer today. We did not run the test or grade the calls. The US and UK figures come from his analysis, France from the results he shared with us, and All combines the markets weighted by contacts.

Pipecorn used to be called ProntoHQ. It is the same product and the same data. The rename happened after the test.

On Basic, Apollo gives 2,500 credits a seat a month for $49, and a phone number costs 8 of them. If one rep needs a few hundred mobiles a month, that is hard to beat. The bill changes with the team: Apollo charges every seat and its credits expire at the end of each cycle, while Pipecorn charges the data, with unlimited seats and credits that roll over. In Hyperline's test Pipecorn also found the right number on more contacts, 83% against 62% across the three markets.

Yes, and many teams do. Apollo sends sequences and dials; Pipecorn finds and verifies the contact data and syncs it to HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive, where your sequencer picks it up. Qevlar AI still uses Apollo's API for one qualification step and Pipecorn for the mobiles behind every call.

Yes. Pipecorn's free plan gives 150 credits a month with no card, and Apollo's free plan gives 900 credits a seat a year. Run the same contacts through both, have your reps dial, and count the numbers that reach the right person.
